Spring 2020 ESL Tutor Training Workshop
The Literacy Volunteers of the Tarrytowns will offer an 18 hour ESL Tutor Training Workshop at Warner Library, beginning on March 7th, 2020. Now is the time to register for the workshop or for our new online training program!
The workshop sessions will be held on six Saturday mornings from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM on March 7th, 14th, 21st, 28th and April 4th, 18th.
Upon completion of the workshop, you will be matched with a learner based on the days and times you indicate you are available to tutor. We ask for a commitment to tutor two hours a week for one year (vacations permitted).
A materials fee of $25.00 is collected at the first meeting to cover the cost of a textbook and other materials given to students during the course of the workshop. This fee may be waived upon request. There are no further expenses or dues. To register, or to request additional information, please fill out the Volunteer Application form. You may also call 914-488-4250 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
Interested in becoming a Literacy Volunteer but can’t make the Saturday morning workshop sessions? Online training is a flexible option.
Enroll in our 12 hour online training program for $25.00, complete the training and attend a 2 hour orientation session at the library. After the orientation, you will be matched with a learner from our waiting list. You will be able to tutor in our well-equipped tutoring center at the Warner Library. The time commitment is the same as stated above – two hours a week for one year (vacations allowed).
Just fill out our Volunteer Application and indicate that you are interested in our online training. Application forms are also available in the Reference Room at the library, or by emailing email@example.com.
