Letter to Tutors and Tutor Advisers

Dear Tutors and Tutor Advisers:

I am writing to you in anticipation of LVT’s 2007–2008 annual meeting, which is scheduled for June 14, 2008. This year’s meeting will include the election of directors to the board to serve for a two-year term, beginning July 1, 2008. The board nominating committee will be preparing a slate of candidates over the next few months and is seeking your recommendations.

As you know, board members work together to develop, guide, and direct the training, tutoring, and administrative functions that support the LVT mission. This is a particularly exciting time for LVT because of the strides we have made in tapping new grant opportunities and developing our Web site (www.lvtarrytown.org), among other projects. The board is seeking candidates who are committed to the LVT mission and who are able and willing to contribute their time, knowledge, and expertise for a two-year term. Members of the board attend six meetings per year (January, March, May, June, September, and November). Meetings are held at the Warner library at a mutually agreed upon schedule and usually last one to two hours. In addition, board members may serve:

• as officers of the board, e.g., president
• as directors of specific functions, e.g, director of tutor training
• on subcommittees to address special projects or initiatives
• in an advisory or consulting capacity

The upcoming vacancies are for president, vice president, treasurer, secretary, and director of publicity/grants.
